Punjab Govt Decides To Continue Polio Drive For Next 10 Years

LAHORE: Chief Minister of Punjab, Sardar Usman Buzdar on Sunday chaired a high-level meeting in which the provincial government decided to continue with the polio drive for the next ten years in order to eradicate poliovirus from the roots.

According to details, the meeting was summoned by the Chief Minister to thoroughly examine the steps taken for the complete elimination of the disease.

In the meeting held, CM Usman Buzdar expressed anger over a polio case which emerged a few days back in Lahore city.

Usman Buzdar made it clear to pertaining authorities that he will not tolerate any sort of shortcoming and he, himself will monitor the progress and steps which are being taken for eradication of the infectious disease.

“Emergence of positive environmental test results in Faisalabad and Rawalpindi is not bearable at all. Holding meeting sessions and issuing statements will not do anything”, stated CM Punjab.

It is to be noted that on Saturday, an eight-month-old kid in Lahore’s Shalimar Town was diagnosed with the poliovirus.
