Lahore: The government of Punjab has taken a measure to control the sugar mafia as it issued Sugar factories amendment ordinance 2020.
According to the ordinance, delay in the payment to sugar cane farmers, weight and illegal cut in the payment and weight by the any sugar factory then owner will get three-year jail term and five million fine.
The sugar mills owners will be bound to issue permanent reciept of recieval of sugar cane and dues of the sugar cane farmer will be sent to their accounts.
Under the new ordinance the cane commissioner has been authorized to determine dues of farmers and recovery of it while the recovery will be done under the land revenue act and on failure of the recovery, the mill owner will be arrested and mill will be confiscated.
The ordinance reads that deputy commissioner will be boud to implement arrest and confiscation orders as a an additional cane commissioner.
The mill owner will get three years jail and daily five million daily fine on over delaying sugar cane crushing while under the sugar factories act the crime has been made non-bailable and police will take action on it.
Chief Minister Punjab Sardar Usman Buzdar said that under the amendment ordinance the rights of sugar cane farmers have been ensured.
Now the sugarcane farmers will not face difficulty in the payment, he added.
