BEIJING: Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi on Wednesday expressed satisfaction over the deliberations in the first Strategic Dialogue between Pakistan and China.
According to details, Shah Mehmood called on Director of the Central Foreign Affairs Commission Office of the Communist Party of China Yang Jiechi in Beijing.
During his meeting with the Chinese leader, Qureshi reflected on completing convergence of views on issues of mutual interest.
Moreover, FM Qureshi reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) project saying that the mega project is contributing to the country’s economic development.
Yang Jiechi said that Pakistan-China relationship was time-tested and an example in inter-state relations.
He added that CPEC has injected a fresh impetus to bilateral economic cooperation.
Earlier on Tuesday, Foreign Minister Qureshi held strategic talks with his Chinese counterpart, Wang Yi, in the Chinese capital.
Both sides discussed different issues of bilateral concern with the specific focus on law and order situation in the region.
They also exchanged views on the Afghan peace and reconciliation process and agreed to continue their joint efforts for restoration of peace and stability in Afghanistan.
Speaking on the occasion, Shah Mahmood Qureshi said China has made commendable efforts for deescalating tension and restoring peace in the region.
“We are thankful to the government and people of China for standing by Pakistan in a critical situation”, reiterated Qureshi.
He said that Pakistan fosters peace and stability in the region.
For his part, the Chinese Foreign Minister said Pakistan has made commendable efforts to ease tension and establish peace in the region.
