Rahim Yar Khan: Third Oil Tanker Crashes in less than 24 hours

Rahim Yar Khan (September 19, 2017): In less than 24 hours a third oil tanker has crashed near Chowk Bahadurpur here. The driver of the tanker was taken to the hospital in serious condition.

The tanker carrying 25,000 litres of petroleum spilled oil.

The Motorway Police has closed the National Highway for traffic while the Rescue teams and personnel of other relevant departments are also present at the scene.

This is the third tanker of the state-owned petroleum importing and distributing Pakistan State Oil that has crashed within 12 hours.

 

Earlier today, over 60,000 litres of furnace oil seeped from a tanker that overturned on National Highway near Qazi Ahmad area in Nawabshah. This was the second such incident in less than 24 hours. Two persons including the tanker driver were injured in the accident. The tanker loaded with furnace oil was on its way to Sheikhupura from Karachi. The Motorway Police sealed the area to avoid any untoward incident and closed the Karachi-Punjab track of the National Highway for traffic. About 60,000 litres furnace oil was spilled from the tanker.

Late last night an oil tanker carrying 40,000 litres of Petrol overturned on National Highway near Sadiqabad.

According to the details, a Pakistan State Oil (PSO) oil tanker overturned near Sadiqabad spilling its highly inflammable cargo on the road. The Motorway police blocked all the roads leading to the accident site so as to avoid any major untoward incident and diverted traffic to substitute routes.

Sources said the driver was sleeping when the oil tanker overturned.
