NEW DELHI: Indian Congress leader Rahul Gandhi along with a delegation of nine opposition parties left for Jammu and Kashmir today to meet the Kashmiri people and detained leaders in the region where restrictions have been imposed since the abrogation of Article 370.
Parties like CPI-M, CPI, RJD, NCP, TMC and DMK are part of the Congress’all-party delegation.
Top Congress leaders who are on board to Srinagar along with Rahul Gandhi are Ghulam Nabi Azad and Anand Sharma.
“Our motive is not to go and create a disturbance,” Rahul Gandhi said.
“If the situation is normal, why they are objecting to our visit? And if they are objecting, they should accept that the situation is not normal,” opposition leader added.
Earlier, the Indian administration in the occupied Kashmir warned them against visiting the state, saying attempts should not be made to disturb the gradual restoration of normal life.
