LAHORE: Railways Minister, Sheikh Rashid Ahmad says the expenditures of the railways have soared due to an increase in oil prices in the international market, therefore, the fares of the train will increase six to seven per cent.
Addressing a press conference in Lahore on Saturday afternoon, he said that the rail fares are being increased by six to seven per cent from 1st of next month.
He said that rail fares of the passengers with fifty kilometres journey are exempt from the increase.
He said that three new freight trains are being launched from Karachi.
The Minister said new jobs will be created in the railways and all-out measure taken for the welfare of the employees.
Commenting over the Trains crash near Hyderabad, he said that it was a human error and he got the initial report of the accident and within 15 days the punishment would be announced.
Announcing support to Charter of Economy, the minister said that he is a supporter of the charter of the economy as opponents should understand there is no option rather than Imran.
