Railways Minister Reflects on Akbar Express Accident

LAHORE: Federal Railways Minister Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed has expressed sorrow over the loss of lives in an accident of Akbar Express, affirming that the responsible individuals won’t be spared.

At least 10 passengers were killed and dozens were injured when Akbar Express in the wee hours of Thursday collided with a freight train in Sadiqabad.

Ordering to carry out probe into the matter, Sheikh Rasheed summoned a comprehensive report from pertaining officials.

“In the case of negligence, we will not spare those due to which incident took place. I have been informed that eight to nine persons have died. I’m myself monitoring entire scenario”, Rasheed told media.

He revealed that the accident took place on the loop line at 4:30 pm, claiming there was “big corruption in the signal system”.
