Railways Plan to Reduce Karachi-Lahore Journey to 10 Hours

Lahore (June 19, 2017): Pakistan Railways has designed plan to construct a new railway track between Karachi-Peshawar that will reduce the Karachi-Lahore journey to 10 hours.

Railways Minister Saad Rafique talking to railway officials, after reviewing ML-1 plan under the CPEC, said that after upgradation of ML-One construction plan under CPEC, the new era of railways’ modernization and restoration will take place.

“The time is not far away when the journey between Karachi to Lahore will curtail to 10 hours while the Lahore-Rawalpindi journey could decreased to just two and half hours,” he said adding that the train speed from Karachi to Peshawar will jump to 160 KM per hours and it will also help to remove dangerous signals on railway tracks.

Railway minister said first installment of Rs 1.5 billion rupees have been paid for initial design of ML-One under CPEC.
