LAHORE: The Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) court of Lahore on Friday extended judicial remand of PML-N Punjab president Rana Sanaullah for another 15 days in a drug smuggling case.
The ANF officials produced the PML-N leader and other suspects before the ANF court.
During the hearing, the ANF prosecutor told the court Rana’s associates are recording the court proceedings. To this, the minister’s counsel made it clear that those who were making recordings have no connection with us.
The judge asked the man with a camera, “Who are you?” He replied: “I am Advocate Umar Gujjar and come here with Rana Sanaullah.”
On this occasion, the ANF prosecutor said that they used these recordings to manipulate the facts.
“What is out of the courtroom is happens out and what happens in court let it happens here”, the judge remarked.
He requested the court to grant a free trial of Sanaullah according to Article 10 (A) but the court rejected it. “As a duty judge, I cannot file a charge sheet against Rana and allowed a free trial to ANF,” said Judge Khalid Bashir.
After hearing the arguments, the court extended the judicial remand of Rana Sanaullah for 15 days and summoned a detailed record of the phone calls of PML-N leader on the request of the defence side.
