Re-election is not a doll game: CEC

Awami National Party (ANP) has presented evidences before the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) regarding vote rigging during Local Bodies’ election in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) province. ECP summoned all Returning Officers (ROs) on June 10 (tomorrow). CEC Sardar Raza Khan said that holding re-election is not a doll game, however, ECP is the final authority to make decision.

Chief Election Commission (CEC) Sardar Raza Khan held hearing that was attended by CM Pervez Khattak’s brother Liaquat Khattak, ANP’s Zahid Khan and Shahi Syed. ANP presented rigging evidences including fake ballot papers and stamps before ECP. The electoral institution sought more evidence and adjourned the hearing till June 10 (tomorrow).

Awami National Party (ANP) leader Zahid Khan said that organised vote rigging was occurred in constituenc y of Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Pervez Khattak during KP LB election.

CEC gave remarks that police is apparently closed their eyes during LB election and no attention was given over law and order sitaution across the province. He added that job is in hand of Allah Almight but not in control of any Syed, Khattak or Bangash.

He said that KP police was playing in other hands instead of supporting electoral staff. Sindh Police exhibited well performance in NA-246 consituency but KP police has not supported ECP.

CEC clarified that ECP is authority to make final decision for re-election or not and they would treat well those who are taking bout re-election.
