ISLAMABAD: Registrar Islamabad High Court (IHC) Atiq-ur-Rehman was removed and Jawad Abbas was appointed as new Registrar of IHC.
As per details, the decision to remove IHC registrar was taken by the judges committee constituted in the light of Supreme Court’s verdict declaring appointments in IHC as illegal.
The committee was constituted in light of the SC judgment to scrutinize the illegal appointment in IHC. A notification regarding removal of IHC registrar was issued.
It is to be mentioned here that Atiq-ur-Rehman was appointed as Registrar on a 6-month contract after his retirement as District and Session Judge. Atiq was drawing the benefits and entitlements as a retired judge and IHC registrar simultaneously.
Following Atiq’s removal, Raja Jawad Abbas has assumed the charge as new Registrar IHC.
