KARACHI: The efforts of rescue teams have yielded fruit as the rainwater has been thwarted from entering grid station of K-Electric which may have caused a massive power outage for a prolonged period of time.
K-Electric had previously issued a warning of another major power breakdown owing to a flood caused by monsoon rain in Gulzar-e-Hijri where “one of the most critical grid station” is located.

“Monsoon downpour has caused Lath Dam near Super Highway to overflow. The floodwater has entered K-Electric’s KDA Grid station, located at Gulzar-e-Hijri Scheme 33, one of the most critical grids of KE’s 220kV grid,” it said in a series of tweets.

On the other hand, shortage of potable drinking water has also occurred in the area due to a prolonged power cut.
