Tareen Resignation is Difference Between Him, Nawaz: Imran

Islamabad (December 16, 2017): Lauding the party general secretary Jahangir Tareen for tendering resignation after declaring disqualified from apex court, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan said that the Tareen’s principle stance on party slot has highlighted the difference between him and former PM Nawaz Sharif.

“Nawaz Sharif was found indulged in corruption, money laundering, tax evasion and concealment assets like heinous crimes but did not resign as Tareen was disqualified on interpretation of trust deed, however he immediately resigned,” Imran said in his statement on social media website Twitter.Jehangir Tareen Resigns from Party PostHe hailed Tareen’s services for the party and said, ” You worked with selflessness, heart and soul for a purpose  and I don’t care either you have a party post or not and member or parliament or not, you will always stand with me in the journey to build a new Pakistan.”

Chief of Awami Mujslim League Sheikh Rashid also lauded Jahangir Tareen and said, “He has cited an example by quitting party post despite no restriction in constitution to retain party slot without disqualification.

“Jahangir proved the difference between leader and jackal,” he said.

Earlier today, Jehangir Tareen tendered resignation from his party position as secretary general after the Supreme Court disqualified him on Friday, however later the Core Committee of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) has rejected the resignation of party general secretary Jahangir Tareen, .

The PTI’s secretary general sent his resignation to party chief  Imran Khan, saying he hoped that the party head will accept his resignation.He said he and the party chief faced strict accountability, and emerged victorious and added he was disqualified on technical grounds and was proud of his political struggle and the party.

The PTI chief’s leadership and friendship is an asset and will remain so in future, he wrote in his resignation letter.

He further said it is inappropriate to hold party position in the wake of the disqualification by the apex court.

On Friday, the Supreme Court announced its much-awaited verdict, rejecting plea to disqualify Imran Khan and declared  PTI’s key party leader Jahangir Tareen disqualified on the petitions filed by PML-N leader Hanif Abbasi.
