Responsible Batting Display Became Key to Victory: Sarfaraz

PORT ELIZABETH: Pakistani Skipper Sarfaraz Ahmed has given all credits to the joint efforts of the top-order batsmen and hoped that the visitors will get the much-needed momentum from the preceding night’s win.

While talking to media after winning the first game against the home side Proteas, Pakistani skipper claimed the team will give their full efforts to ensure that the winning momentum achieved from the first win carries on to the rest of the series.

“Bowlers provided us with a good balance after restricting the South African side to 266 runs, which gave an opportunity to the batsmen to get those runs comfortably with a positive mindset”, Sarfaraz Ahmed.

He added, “This win was an outcome of joint-efforts of all players after the humiliating clean sweep by the hands of South Africa.”

On the occasion, Proteas Captain Faf du Plessis also expressed his thoughts. Du Plessis said that undoubtedly, Pakistani team outplayed them and presented better play, hence, they deserved the triumph.

Earlier on Saturday night, despite Hashim Amla’s century, Pakistani Bowlers restricted South Africa at 266 in the first one day international at Port Elizabeth.

Classic firework by Muhammad Hafeez and Imamul Haq with the bat helped Pakistan to beat South Africa by five wickets in the first ODI of five-match series at Port Elizabeth.
