Rs5bn corruption: SHC extends interim bail of Sharjeel till 25th

Karachi (May 16, 2017): Sindh High Court (SHC) on Thursday extended the interim bail granted to  Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leader Sharjeel Memon in over Rs5 billion corruption case till May 25.

An SHC bench on Thursday heard the bail plea of Sharjeel Memon in the Rs5 billion corruption case and his petition seeking court’s directives to federal government to remove his name from Exit Control List (ECL).

National Accountability Bureau (NAB) submitted reply regarding land allotment.

NAB law officer told the court that thousands of acres of land was allotted to Bharia Town illegally. He added that Sharjeel Memon and Malir Development Authority (MDA) officers played important role in illegal allotment of the land.

The law officer added that the illegal allotment cost national exchequers billion of rupees. He added that Bahria Town was allotted over 11 thousands of acres of land illegally. The NAB counsel said that as Local Governments Minister Sharjeel had a role in the illegal allotment.

The court while extending the interim bail till May 25, 2017 adjourned further the hearing till May 18.
