Russian Deputy Chief of General Staff Colonel General Israkov Sergi Yuryevich along with his military delegation visited Waziristan and hailed the efforts of Pakistan in eliminating terrorism.
This is the first time that any Russian military delegation has been flown to the region. Pakistan Army briefed the delegation regarding the developments and uplifting projects continued in FATA, while the delegation was also briefed over Pakistan Army’s efforts and sacrifices for the elimination of terrorism.
Commander Peshawar Corps Lt Gen Nazir Ahmed Butt accompanied the delegation which was briefed about about Pakistan Army’s efforts to clear FATA from terrorists. Moreover, the delegation was also briefed about the Pakistan-Afghanistan border management and socio-economic development projects in the area for enduring stability.
In September, Russia held its first-ever military exercises with Pakistan and has also started selling weapons to Islamabad.
