Saad Vows to Make Railways Best Service in Region

Lahore (August 28, 2017): Minister for Railway Saad Rafique on Monday said the time is not far when Pakistan Railways’ will be one of the best systems in the region.

He also expressed hope that the “railway system in Pakistan will soon reach its destination”.

While addressing a news conference in Lahore, the minister appreciated the Azadi train which has visited different cities of the country, saying it represented various cultures of Pakistan.

The Azadi Train, which was prepared by the Pakistan Railways to mark the 70th Independence Day of Pakistan, started its countrywide journey from Margalla Railway Station, Islamabad on August 12.

The train was inaugurated by Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting Marriyum Aurangzeb.

The Azadi train consists of five art galleries, illustrated with pictures of people who sacrificed their lives during the independence movement, while six floats are also part of the train.

The floats highlight the culture of Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Sindh, Balochistan, Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Kashmir.
