Saeed Ghani Condemns PM Imran’s Announcement

Karachi (September 17, 2018): Sindh Minister for local government Saeed Ghani on Sunday condemned Prime Minister Imran Khan’s announcement on giving nationality to the children of Afghan and Bengali immigrants born in Pakistan.

According to details, the Sindh minister said we are facing the burden of millions of refugees and Pakistan helped the refugees due to international law.He added that the prime minister should open the doors of his Bani Gala residence for the Bengali and Afghan immigrants if he has got concerns for them.

Saeed Ghani criticised the premier for not speaking against the idea of construction of Kalabagh Dam in his address at the event.

Earlier Prime Minister Imran Khan said that Pakistan wastes 80 per cent of its water and added, “If we continue like this then by 2025 there will be a massive shortage of water.”

While addressing to a fundraising dinner for the Diamer Bhasha dam at Governor House, PM Imran Khan said the water per capita availability in the country has dropped from approximately 5000 cubic metres to 1000 cubic metres per year.

PM Imran said “Those who say that dams should not be built, I would like to quote them some statistics. China, the country that is progressing at the fastest pace in the world, has 84,000 dams, including 5,000 big dams. India, too, has 5,000 dams and they are still building more. And we only have two major dams.”The PM said that the country is heavily in debt, adding that new “dams cannot be financed through budget either”, which is why “we have decided to do fundraising”.

PM Imran said that in addition to the Diamer Bhasha dam, the govt is also looking about to start work on Mohmand Dam which, he said, is “very feasible”. “We will work on both the dams simultaneously,” he added.

The premier said that the federal government will give nationality to the Aghan and Bangladeshi refugees settled in the city from decades.
