Safe City Committee Formed to Make Karachi Crime-Free: Sial

Karachi (December 13, 2017): Home Minister Sindh Suhail Anwar Sial has said that his government has formed a Safe City Committee to help make Karachi a crime-free city.

Addressing businessmen, entrepreneurs, an traders at Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) Sial said that data collected by Citizen Police Liaison Committee (CPLC) proves that crime graph has indeed slide Suhail informed that paramilitary Rangers are a part of the said Committee.

We inducted 6,000 more people into Karachi police force during the last three years. Though target killings have stopped in the mega city a few crime have somewhat marred the improving law and order city in Karachi but the fact remains that bodies stuffed in bags have become a thing of the past, he added.

Informing the participants that Sindh government has increased the Home Department’s budget from Rs 47 billion to Rs 80 billion for this fiscal year Sial said that this clearly indicates that just how seriously Sindh government takes law and order.

The police and the Rangers are trying their best to eradicate street crime in totality the number of semi-automatic rifles provided to police during the last three years has increased from 27,000 to 57,000.

Accepting that the law and order situation in Karachi is not ideal still Sial said that nevertheless the law and order situation has improved significantly.

Sial told the KCCI members that they could apply for arms license on the letterhead of the Chamber. I would ask the chief minister to issue special arms license to the businessmen, he added.

Stressing that crime-free Karachi would attract Sial said that all the stake holders are trying to make the law and order situation better.

Assuring the businessmen that the government understands their problems and it is trying its best to resolve them.

Refusing to impose a ban to force businesses and markets close shops at 10 pm Sial said that such a measure would be construed as failure of the government.
