Sahiwal Incident: ATC May Indict Accused CTD Officials Today

SAHIWAL: Anti-Terrorism Court may indict the six accused Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) officials of ‘Sahiwal Incident’ here on Thursday.

As per details, the case didn’t proceed as the defence lawyer was absent and the court then ordered to send the accused CTD officials to jail for another 14 days.

Earlier on March 21, The report of the joint investigation team (JIT) formed in the Sahiwal encounter has raised more questions as it failed to identify key official behind encounter.

The copy of the JIT report available with Abbtakk news shows that the JIT report does not mention SSP Javaid Qamar’s role in the incident.

The report states that he [SSP Javaid] was chasing the car but was absent from the shootout and reached the site after 35 minutes. The key question arises here is then who ordered the killing of the family members?

The report further tells that Zeeshan had links with terrorists in Afghanistan and he and his mother and wife had complete knowledge of this.

The JIT report also held Zeeshan’s brother in suspicion.

It must be noted that on January 19, four people, including three members of a family and the car’s driver, were killed in an alleged encounter in Sahiwal. CTD personnel claimed they had killed a local commander of Islamic State or Daesh and three others in the operation.

However, eyewitnesses and three children, whose parents were killed, disputed the claim.
