SC Disqualifies PTI’s Rai Hassan Nawaz For Life

Islamabad(July 19, 2018): PTI Leader, Rai Hassan Nawaz on Thursday has been disqualified for life by the Apex Court.

According to the details, a two-member bench of the Supreme Court, headed by Justice Sheikh Azmat Saeed heard the case.

Rai Hassan was accused of concealing his assets in the nomination papers and defaulting on loans.

During today’s hearing, the apex court noted that a five-member bench had already declared Rai Hassan as not being honest and truthful as per the Constitution.

Justice Azmat remarked that the PTI leader was disqualified under Article 62(1)(f) under which the disqualification is for life.

Rai Hassan, who had clinched Sahiwal’s NA-162 constituency from a PTI ticket in the 2013 general election, was disqualified by in 2015 after the runner-up had challenged his victory.SHC Upholds Election Tribunal Verdict To Disqualify Wassan

Earlier on July  18, the Sindh High Court on Wednesday upheld the election tribunal’s verdict to disqualify Pakistan Peoples Party leader Manzoor Wassan from contesting the general elections 2018.

Earlier on July  18, the Apex Court on Wednesday declared Dr Shehzad Niazi in PP-90 Bhakkar and Muhammad Ali in PS-16 ineligible to contest elections.

A two-member bench of the Apex Court comprising of Justice Sheikh Azmat Saeed and Justice Ijaz-ul-Ahsan heard the applications.

Meanwhile, the court rejected the application of ineligible against Aftab Akbar from PP-23.

Earlier on July  03, the Apex Court of Pakistan declared PPP’s Candidate Yasmeen Shah ineligible from contesting elections.

A three-member bench of the supreme court headed by CJP heard the case on the plea of former National Assembly Speaker, Dr Fahmida Mirza.

During the hearing of the case, CJP remarked that name of Yasmeen Shah’s father is changed in her matriculation certificate, such people cannot be allowed to contest election.

It is worthwhile to mention here that Dr Fahmida Mirza had challenged degree of Yasmeen Shah.
