ISLAMABAD:Supreme Court (SC) on Tuesday granted bail to Khwaja brother in the Paragon Scandal case .
A divisional bench headed by Justice Maqbool Baqer heard the bail petition of Khawaja Saad Rafique and Khawaja Salman Rafique.
During the course of the hearing counsel of Khawaja brothers Amjad Pervez opined that the Chairman NAB pardoned Qaiser Ameen Butt, a witness in the case twice while the pardon was withdrawn as the Chairman was displeased after he recorded statement before the majistrate just after the pardon.
The Khawaja brothers lawyer informed the court that the NAB pardoned him Qaisar But on Decemebr 5, 2018 adding that Qaiser wanted a plea-bargain deal but the NAB rejected his request while the NAB aim was only to make case against the Khawaja brothers.
To which, Justice Maqbool Baqer remarked that the matter is serious whether the NAB has mala fide intention or having incompetency while the NAB has no basis to disposed off bail.
The Judge said that whats illegal in it when khawaja brothers have recieved money in their accounts and they admitted it and the NAB should show an illegal practice if it was committed.
Later, the court granted bail to Khawaja brothers on a surety bond of Rs three million each
