Islamabad (May 03, 2017): The Supreme Courts’ special bench constituted to ensure implementation of its verdict on Pamamagate case will hear the matter related to formation of a Joint Investigation Team in open court.
The bench is expected to finalize names for the JIT. The relevant organizations and institutions have submitted names for the JIT.
It is to be mentioned here that yesterday the Chief Justice of Pakistan constituted the implementation bench consisting of the same judges who handed down the majority judgement in the Panama Papers case.
The bench, headed by Justice Ejaz Afzal Khan, is comprised Justice Sheikh Azmat Saeed and Justice Ijaz-ul-Ahsan.
The Supreme Court had, by a majority verdict of three to two, ordered the constitution of a joint investigation team (JIT) to probe the assets of the incumbent prime minister. Dissenting judges Justice Asif Saeed Khosa and Justice Gulzar Ahmed had “disqualified” the Prime Minister for not being honest before the nation, parliament and the court.
In its April 20 order, the five-judge bench had requested Chief Justice of Pakistan Mian Saqib Nisar to constitute a special bench to ensure the implementation of the judgement.
