SC likely to constitute Panama JIT today as Justice Ejaz returns

ISLAMABAD (02 May 2017): The Supreme Court (SC) is likely to constitute the Joint Investigation Team, it ordered to be formed in its verdict in Panamagate case, today to probe as to how Sharif family transferred money to Qatar.

The Supreme Court has already received names from the concerned organization and institution for constitution of the JIT.

The apex court received the names from State Bank of Pakistan (SBP), Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), National Accountability Bureau (NAB), intelligence agencies and Security and Exchange Commission of Pakistan.

The names will be approved by the larger bench which heard the petitions in Panama Leaks case.

One of the members of the bench, Justice Ejaz Afzal, who was in Turkey on official visit, has returned.

It is expected that today the larger bench will approve names for the JIT and it may be notified.

It is to be mentioned here that the SECP has reportedly proposed the names of Muzaffar Mirza, Ali Azeem and Usman Hayat. FIA names Additional Director Wajid Zia, Additional Director General Captain (r) Ahmad Latif and Additional Director General Dr Shafiq Ahmad. Moreover, NAB has named Balochistan NAB Director General Irfan Naeem Mangi, Karachi Director General Farmanullah, Operations DG Zahir Shah and Lahore NAB DG Saleem Shahzad.
