Islamabad (July 18, 2017): The three-member special implementation bench of the apex court has resumed hearing of Panama case here.
Prime Minister counsel Khwaja Haris is advancing arguments to rebut the JIT reports and other points raised by petitioners’ counsels.

On Tuesday, the full bench headed by Justice Ejaz Afzal Khan resumed hearing of the case.
Prime Minister’s counsel Harris submitted that the SC had ordered the JIT to get answers of the 13 questioned framed by the bench.
He argued that the JIT overstepped its mandate. Harris said that the apex court had not given instruction for reopening of any case against Sharif family.
During the course the hearing, Justice Ejaz Afzal Khan remarked that it would be upto the trail court whether to fully or partially accept the finding of the JIT.
Justice Ejazul Hassan while addressing Khwaja Harris said: “You says Sharif family was not provided opportunity to defend itself,,,but Hussain Nawaz was summoned for six times. Everyone was given time for defence.”
Justice Ejazul Hassan said that the Prime Minister and his children approach was that nothing should be told or shared with the JIT.
He added the Prime Minister in his speeches had said they had record of each and every thing.
On Monday the Sharif family, and Finance Minister Ishaq Dar’s lawyers submitted separate objections to the “damning” final report of the joint investigation team (JIT) that probed allegations of money laundering against the Sharif family.
In the objections filed before the SC, the Sharif family and the finance minister rejected the JIT report and argued that the team had exceeded its mandate.
On Monday, counsels of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI), Jamaat-e-Islami (JI), and Sheikh Rashid concluded their arguments on the JIT report.
During his statements before the judges, Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf’s (PTI) lead counsel Naeem Bokhari requested that PM Nawaz Sharif should be summoned to the court for questioning.
The bench had also called lawyers of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) and the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) to the next hearing.
Putting forward his arguments before the apex bench, Bokhari highlighted certain findings from the JIT report, including the alleged false testimony of Tariq Shafi, who is Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s cousin and a key respondent in the case.
