SC seeks 5-year record of revenue generated thru sign/bill boards in Karachi

The Supreme Court on Tuesday ordered the concerned authorities to submit records of the revenue collected/generated through sign/bill boards in the city during last five years.   

A four-member bench of the apex court headed by Justice Amir Hani Muslim heard a petition regarding illegal bill/sign boards in the city.

During the course of hearing, the federal and provincial governments submitted reports regarding compliance of the court’s earlier orders to remove all bill/sign boards from the city.

A member of the bench Justice Faez Essa while reprimanding the counsel of Sindh government questioned as to where in world he was such huge bill/signs board installed on high rises in violation of the court orders.

He added that the footpath were even encroached and left without any space for pedestrians to walk on.  The judge inquired the law officers of the federal and provincial government as to how much revenue the governments earned from the bill/sign boards.

He also asked the counsels to informed the court as to where the revenue gone.

The presiding judge Amir Hani Muslim directed the counsels to present the 5-years record of revenue generated through the bill/sign boards in the city on next date of hearing.
