ISLAMABAD: Supreme Court (SC) on Tuesday approved former premier petition seeking extension in his bail for further six weeks.
The SC also formed three-member SC bench headed by Chief Justice of SC Asif Saeed Khan Khosa for hearing of the petition which will be held on May 3.
The SC bench will hear the case on May 3 at 11 am.
Earlier today, ex-prime minister Nawaz Sharif has filed a plea in Supreme Court seeking extension in his six weeks bail which will expire on May 7.
Nawaz Sharif has filed the plea through his counsel in the apex court.
The PML-N supremo has the stance, “Unforgivable damage will occur if the bail is not extended,” the application read, adding that there was hope that the review petition filed in the SC would be accepted.
“Given the complicated and life-threatening nature of ischemic heart disease, carotid artery disease, lymphadenopathy and renal artery stenosis, from which the petitioner [Nawaz Sharif] is admittedly suffering […] it is in the interest of justice that condition imposed for the petitioner’s release on bail merits review,” argued the review petition filed by Sharif through his counsel Khawaja Haris Ahmed.
