A three-member bench of the apex court headed by Chief Justice Mian Saqib Nisar and comprising Justice Faisal Arab and Umar Ata Bandial will resume hearing of PML-N leader Hanif Abbasi’s petition against Tareen.Tareen has been directed by the bench to submit the details of lease agreements with the landlord from whom he acquired land on lease.

During Tuesday’s hearing, Imran Khan counsel Naeem Bukhari had told the bench that they could not find the complete records of Niazi Services Limited, the offshore company owned by Imran Khan.Upon this, the chief justice had remarked that the record which goes in favour of your client was only found.

The Chief Justice had also questioned as to where were the evidences that Tareen was holding 18 thousands acres land on lease.

Earlier, the SC was informed that Jahangir Tareen had been an agriculturist since 1978.As the hearing began on Tuesday, Tareen’s counsel, Sikandar Bashir Mohmand, had informed the court he could not submit the lease record due to a shortage of time.  He had informed the bench that 18,500 acres were acquired by his client in 2010 on lease.

The chief justice remarked that the lease agreements were not verified and fail to mention where and how much the land in question is.“You need to satisfy us that the person from whom land was taken on lease was the owner of the land. We want to see the record of the revenue department first, as only that will tell the situation on the ground,” the chief justice had observed.
