Islamabad (November 8, 2017): The Supreme Court will resume the disqualification case against Tehreek-i-Insaf chairman Imran Khan and its Secretary General Jahangir Tareen today.
Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Hanif Abbasi has filed a petition in the apex court seeking the disqualification of Jahangir Tareen and PTI Chairman Imran Khan over their alleged non-declaration of assets and ownership of offshore companies.
A three-member Supreme Court bench, headed by Chief Justice Mian Saqib Nisar, is hearing the case.
The last hearing of the case was held on October 25 when the chief justice observed that Tareen was yet to submit a trust deed to the court regarding his UK property.
Over the last weekend, Tareed submitted the ‘trust deed’ to the Supreme Court regarding a 12-acre property he owns in the UK.
Earlier, the Supreme Court resumed hearing of disqualification case against Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Secretary General Jahangir Tareen on Tuesday.
Tareen counsel told the Supreme Court that his client’s offshore company held around 12 acres of property in the UK, which was worth 4.7 million pounds in 2011. However, the counsel conceded that his client had never disclosed the property to the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) or the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR).
Unlike the Avenfield House properties owned by the Sharif family, Advocate Sikandar Bashir Mohmand maintained, there was a complete money trail for Mr Tareen’s Shiny View Limited, since the funds were remitted abroad while remaining within the confines of the law.
The property, known as Hyde House, was situated on Hyde Lane in Ecchinswell, a small village in Hampshire County, the counsel said.
