Scam Continued in SPPRA Despite Anti-graft Agency Raids  

Karachi (January 18, 2018): Following the revelation of five billion rupees scam by hiding IDs of various contracts in Sindh Public Procurement Regularity Authority (SPPRA) the anti-corruption unit has raided twice , however the corruption spree has yet not stopped.

According to details, the officials of anti-corruption raided the SPPRA offices and confiscated more record, however the same time Managing Director (MD) SPPRA Khalid Chachar and Zubair Pervez have started contacts to high ups to stop inquiry.

According to sources the corruption in SPPRA  has been confirmed that revealed that MD Khalid Chachar hidden 10 billion rupees IDs as he got the MD seat after paying bribe of Rs 200 million.

The investigative officer told that inquiry in irregularities in SPPRA was continued and team has also possessed more record.

Sources said that million rupees contract of Sindh assembly renovation have been hidden by publishing bad evaluation report, while two to three per cent commission has also been received on contracts of departments of Irrigation, Works and Services, Health and other, sources claimed.

On January 05, the mega corruption in Sindh Public Procurement Regularity Authority (SPPRA)was exposed, when a contractor filed petition against million of rupees embezzlement in SPPRA on Friday in Sindh High Court.

According to details a contractor Imran Umer filed the petition against scam in SPPRA and named the SPPRA and department of works as respondents.

He told the SHC in his request that Managing Director SPPRA Khalid Chachar and his team secretly struck a mutual deal and hide the contracts costing million of rupees, sources said.Petition Filed in SHC Against Million Rupees Scam in SPPRA“Another official of SPPRA Maula Bux Sheikh has given contracts to his favourite contractors and enjoyed two per cent commission on each project. MD Khalid Chachar has appointed his front man as IT incharge by sidelining Imran, who was already working on the post,” the petition stated.

The petitioner also alleged that MD SPPRA Khalid Chachar has been receiving  75 per cent commission for several months as the deal was made at a location closed to Sindh Secretariat.
