Search For Footballer Sala: Body, Plane Wreckage Found

WEB DESK: Wreckage of the plane Piper Malibu N264DB, carrying the missing Cardiff footballer Emiliano Sala has been found.

The Piper Malibu carrying 28-year-old Sala and pilot David Ibbotson, 59, disappeared over the English Channel on January 21 after leaving Nantes in France for Cardiff.

Two vessels, using sonar had been taking part in a fresh search covering an area of around four square nautical miles.

A body has been seen in the underwater wreckage of the plane that was carrying footballer Emiliano Sala and pilot David Ibbotson.

A search on Sunday found the Piper Malibu plane on the seabed off Guernsey, almost two weeks after it went missing.

The flight had been carrying Argentine striker Sala, 28, and Mr Ibbotson, 59, from Nantes, north-west France, to Cardiff after Sala completed his £15m move to Cardiff City.

The scientist who directed a privately-funded search operation north of Guernsey on behalf of the Sala family said that the wreckage of the plane was “located earlier this morning”.

Tolisso, Lucas Lima, Geoffrey Kondogbia, Benoit Costil, Leo Dubois, Demarai Gray, Fabio, Grenier and Mukiele were among the footballers to donate in the fund to continue the search for Sala.

Several stars of the footballing world chipped in massive amounts of money for the purpose. Chelsea’ Higuain and Manchester City’s star player Ilkay Gundogan were also among the ones who donated to the fund.

It was observed that even the world-famous Argentine legends; Lionel Messi and Diego Maradona came out on social media to continue the search operation for the missing footballer.
