SKARDU: Search operation on Nanga Parbat for recovering two Italian mountaineers has been stopped on Saturday due to poor weather in the valley.
According to details, authorities have halted the search operation for recovering the missing mountaineers due to poor weather conditions.
Earlier on February 28, Pakistan Army authorized a helicopter to initiate a rescue operation to recover two stranded Italian mountaineers on Nanga Parbat.
Italian High commissioner in Pakistan Stefano Pontecorvo took to the twitter and announced that Pak Army have authorized a helicopter for a search and rescue mission on Nanga Parbat to rescue Italy based mountaineers.
He wrote on the social networking site: “Pak Army has authorized a helicopter for a search and rescue mission on Nanga Parbat in the area in which Daniele Nardi and Tom Ballard should presumably be.”
“Now waiting for the process to be ultimate and hopefully the heli can take off shortly,” added the Italian High Commissioner.
“Weather cloudy but workable,” concluded Stefano Pontecorvo.
