KARACHI: Second phase of Local Bodies elections to be held in 14 districts of Sindh and 12 districts of Punjab tomorrow, while strict security arrangements have been made for local bodies elections.
Security arrangements have been tightened after the strife and bloody incidents during first phase of elections in both provinces.
Weapons licenses have been suspended in 14 districts of Sindh. Security personnel were directed to remain alert in all districts. Pakistan Army to perform their duties as Quick Response Force in both provinces, while Rangers will be deployed at sensitive and extremely sensitive polling stations.
Election Commission has declared 960 polling stations extremely sensitive, while more than 3000 polling stations sensitive in Punjab. One million policemen will be deployed on polling day. Polling has been suspended in Sanghar district of Sindh in second phase of Local Bodies elections in view of security situations.
Total number of candidates in Sindh is 15,238, male voters is 4261254, while female voters is 3629856, while the total number of candidates in Punjab is 11906, total number of voters is 1,37,02160. Total number of Presiding officers in Punjab is 11906 and polling officers is 35200.
On the other hand, total number of Returning officers in Sindh is 152 and Assistant Returning officers is 285, while 7662 Presiding officers and 46874 Assistant Presiding officers will be deployed in Sindh.
