Security Plan for Muharram In Peshawar Issued

Peshawar (September 12, 2018): The security plan to maintain peace during Muharram-ul-Haram in Peshawar and its adjoining areas has been issued on Wednesday.

According to the security plan, the mobile service will be suspended on 9th and 10th of Muharram as the movement of the Afghan refugees will also be restricted to their camps.

During the Muharram, 10 thousand police personnel will perform duty outside the congregations and mourning rallies.Talking to media SSP Peshawar Javed Iqbal said that police recommended to the provincial government for suspension of mobile service on 9th and 10th of Muharram. He further mentioned that more than 60 new check post will also be set up on the entry and exit of the tribal areas.“It is also decided to ban 340 ulemas across the country to entry in Peshawar while speeches of 13 local religious scholars will also be banned in the city,” he said adding that the CCTV cameras will also be installed on the routes of rallies and Imam Bargahs.

SSP said that section 144 will be imposed during the Muharram.

Pillion Riding Ban 

Peshawar administration has announced a ban on pillion riding as part of security measures during the holy month of Muharram.

In a notification issued on Wednesday, Peshawar District Commissioner said that Section 144 was being imposed in the city to maintain peace and harmony in the city.

Earlier, Sindh government has banned Pillion riding in the province for three days as part of the security plan for the upcoming Muharram processions.

As per the notification issued by the provincial home department, the ban will last for three days from the eighth of Muharram-ul-Haram to the 10th across the province.Pillion Riding Banned In Sindh Sighting Muharram Security

Apart from that, the use of loudspeakers and the public display of weapons is also prohibited without permission.

Furthermore, the notice also directed that hate speech, as well as offensive wall chalking, will also be barred under Section 144.

According to Pakistan Meteorological Department, the first month in the Islamic calendar, Muharram-ul-Haram is expected to commence on September 12th, while the 10th of the month will fall on September 22nd.
