Islamabad (February 19, 2018): The deadline for returning of nominations for senate polls has ended today, Monday, as six candidates from Punjab out of 27 and four from Khyber Pukhtunkhawa (KP) have withdrawn their nominations.
Six from Punjab:
Five aspirants of ruling party PML-N including former finance minister Ishaq Dar have withdrawn their nomination paper while one candidate from Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) has also taken back his nomination papers.
Former finance minister and declared absconder in assets beyond means Ishaq Dar has withdrawn from general seat, however he will contest from technocrat seat from Punjab.Sheeza Fatima, Naseer Ahmed Bhutta, William Michael and Mian Shakeel Awan from ruling party while former Meraj Hamid from PTI withdrawn from senate race.
Election commission will announce final lists of the candidates tomorrow.
KP:
Four candidates including Maulana Samiul Haq withdrawn from senate race on the last day of the withdrawal of nomination papers on Monday.Maulana Samiul Haq, Abdula Wassy from JI, Haji Dil dar from general seat and Advocate Abdul Latif Yousafzai withdrawn from their candidature.
