Senior Member of Apna Network Ali Akhter Rizvi Passes Away

LONDON: The senior member and adviser to Abbtakk News managing director Ali Akhter Rizvi has died of the coronavirus, which has claimed thousands of lives worldwide so far, in a London hospital.

According to details, Ali Akhter Rizvi was under treatment in London after infected by a novel coronavirus.

Career At A Glance 

Ali Akhter Rizvi son of Syed Izhar Hussain Rizvi was born in Indian province Utter Pradesh and after the completion of initial studies in Lukhnow, he shifted to Pakistan. He had completed his further studies from Sindh Madrastul Islam, SM Arts College, and Government College Karachi.

He started his professional career in journalism in 1960 with the widely published daily Kohistan from Lahore and even as a junior journalist he had interviewed the sister of the founder of Pakistan Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, Muhtrama Fatima Jinnah, just after a year of his career. The interview was published in daily Kohistan.

He was part of the team that started prominent daily Mashriq in 1962 and performed duty as the city chief reporter. He has the honour of reporting from the frontline western borders of Pakistan during the 1965 and 1971 wars.

He had interviewed prominent politicians, religious scholars and personalities from various segments of the society. The personalities he interviewed are including Hussain Shaheed Suharwardi, Khawaja Nazimuddin, Zulifqar Ali Bhutto, Maulana Syed Abul’ala Madoodi, Maulana Abdul Majeed, Mian Mumtaz Doltana, Sheikh Mujeebur Rehman, Maulana Mufti Mehmood, Chaudhry Noorul Amin, Khawaja Khairuddin, Ayub Khan and Yahya Khan.

Daily Mashriq administration appointed him as bureau chief Islamabad in 1973 and later he had been appointed as an assistant editor in 1975. In 1976 he was appointed as Karachi magazine editor of daily Mashriq. In 1976, daily gripped by the financial crisis that enforced administration to launch Evening Special and he was appointed as editor of the eveninger.

The Evening Special had set a new trend in newspaper journalism and it had not only helped daily Mashriq to out of the financial crisis but also secured a historic position in print journalism due to the number of copies published.

In 1990, he was accorded the responsibilities of as editor and general manager of the Mashriq along with the editor of the Evening Special.

Ali Akhter Rizvi has launched daily Janbaz in 1992 and successfully performed his duty as an editor of the daily.

He has entered in electronic media in 2004 as director news and current affairs of Punjabi version of Apna TV Network “Apna News” and successfully run the channel.

He has been performing his duty as an adviser to managing director Abbtakk News from 2013 till his death.

He was a kind and teacher like conduct to his juniors. He has an exemplary school of thoughts, good friend and respectable personality.

Today, he is not present physically among us but he will always alive in memories, Almighty Allah may bless and give him the best place in Eden.
