Seven IOK Students Suspended, Professor Sacked

SRI NAGAR: In India, seven Kashmiri students have been suspended in Dehradun in the Indian state of Uttarakhand and a Kashmiri Professor was forced to resign in Jalandhar, the ancient city in the north Indian state of Punjab.

The action was taken after more than 450 Hindutva activists gathered in the campus in Dehradun and demanded expulsion of Kashmiri students, Registrar of the University RK Khare said. The protesting students threatened to leave the institute if the Kashmiri students were not expelled, he said. “We had to suspend the Kashmiri students to pacify the protesting students and stop them from leaving,” he said.

On the other hand, a Kashmiri professor, Salman Shaheen who teaches English at Jalandhar University said he was forced to resign. Professor Salman is a resident of Sopore, occupied Kashmir.

“After the Pulwama attack, local students of the university were uploading pictures with harsh comments to which I commented that instead of using guns we should use language of love,” Shaheen told media men. The comments were; however, morphed in Photoshop and made viral over social media.

Shaheen said the students added “As you sow, so shall you reap” to his morphed comment.
