LAHORE: Several villages were flooded in Kanganpur as water released by India continued to rise in River Indus, Sutlej, Ravi and Chenab, district administration informed on Saturday.
According to the rescue team, the water level continued to rise in River Sutlej with the flow crossing 56,000 cusecs at Kanganpur and it flooded several villages.
The local administration has issued alert to evacuate the affected villages while rescue 1122 and army troops are ready and are on standby to tackle any emergency situation.Following the flood alert, the authorities have started shifting the people of low-lying areas to safer places.
On the other hand, the flood rescue operation is underway in the districts located at the bank of River Sutlej.
According to rescue 1122 spokesperson, about 12,258 people have been shifted to alternate places.
