Shah Shows Concern Over Sadiq Statement About Tenure

Islamabad (December 14, 2017): Opposition Leader in the National Assembly Khursheed Shah has expressed concerns over the statement of Speaker Ayaz Sadiq stating regarding the tenure of assemblies, saying that the situation was suspicious.

Reacting to Speaker NA Ayaz Sadiq contention during a talk show where he had expressed his apprehension the sitting assemblies might not complete their tenure, Shah said that Sadiq statement had  revealed the inside story.

He added that the situation was not normal, saying that all stakeholders needed to be wary of the prevailing situation.

He added that a political party was saying there might be civil war in the country if early elections were not called. He advised all stakeholders to be cautious as the country was passing through critical phase.

He called upon all political parties to take measures for protecting and strengthening democracy by joining hands.

In a talk show the National Assembly Speaker had said that he feared assemblies would not be able to complete their tenure.

Shah said Ayaz Sadiq had more sense and understanding of the situation.“The situation is suspicious because there is a party which is applying pressure for elections to be held immediately. This party believes if elections are not held there will be a civil war,” Shah said.

“It is my personal opinion that elections be held on time and assemblies complete their tenure,” Shah stressed.
