Shah Criticizes Govt for Proroguing NA Session

Islamabad (November 07, 2017): Opposition Leader in the National Assembly Syed Khursheed Shah has said that proroguing the National Assembly session abruptly was a joke with the Parliament.

Talking to media he said that the Bill passed from Senate for electoral reform was to be presented in the National Assembly today, but the session was adjourned for indefinite time yesterday.Shah said that PPP wanted the election should be held on time, neither before the schedule nor it should be delayed.

He added that getting the draft bill from Council of Common Interests was a constitutional requirements which should be done.’

He expressed astonishment over what he said government’s fear to take the issue to CCI.

Shah added that the government was unable to complete the required number of vote in NA so it proroguned the house.To a question regarding a committee constituted by PML-N President Nawaz Sharif to hold meeting with political parties, Shah said that it was too late for the committee.

Naveed Qamar said that the government was misleading by saying that elections could not be held on the basis of old delimitation.

He opined that till new delimitation, the old delimitation remained valid.
