Shah Rukh Top Earning Bollywood Actor of 2017

Web Desk (December 22, 2017): Shah Rukh Khan who is known as King Khan in Bollywood was the Indian film industry’s top-earning actor in 2017, taking home $38 million, Forbes reported on Friday.

Shah Rukh Khan’s earnings were fueled by the release of Raees for which the actor earned upfront fees and cut of the back-end. The actor also had substantial earnings from endorsement deals and profits from his production house Red Chillies Entertainment.

In second place was Salman Khan who earned $37 million in 2017 with the release of Sultan – which was the highest earning Bollywood movie of 2016. The actor also has several advertising deals.

Movies such as Dishoom and Jolly LLB 2helped earn Akhshay Kumar $35.5 million in 2017 and secure the third sport in the Bollywood rankings.

The third Khan on the list – Aamir earned $12.5 million following his global hit Dangal. Aamir Khan is fourth on the list because he only had one release in the year and does not endorse several products.

Rounding up the top five is Hrithik Roshan who earned $11.5 million due to the release of Kaabil.

The first female on the list is Deepika Padukone who had a blockbuster year with $11 million in earnings. Deepika took home a large upfront amount for the yet to be released Padmavati and has advertising deals with brands such as Nike and Oppo.

In seventh place was Deepika’s co-star in Padmavati, Ranveer Singh who made $10 million. His earnings were helped by endorsement deals as movies such as Befikre and Bajirao Mastani failed to make a dent in the box office.

Priyanka Chopra who has taken her talents to Hollywood earned $10 million and also ranked seventh on the list. She features in Quantico a show on HBO and also starred in the reboot of Baywatch on the big screen.

Bollywood icon Amitabh Bachchan made $9 million with earning both from the silver and small screens.

Ranbir Kapoor who has fallen somewhat off the radar earned $8.5 million with the best box office opening of his career with Ae Dil Hai Mushkil.
