Shaharyar declares Misbah much better captain than Imran

LAHORE (May 4, 2015): Pakistan Cricket Board chairman Shahryar Khan, while briefing to Senate Standing Committee for Inter-provincial co-ordination, has lavished praise on the Test skipper Misbah-ul-Haq after calling him as a `better leader` than World Cup-winning captain Imran Khan, adding that there are more experienced players available to hear match fixing scandals cases, whereas these days Bookies have found out a new way to communicate through the relaties and friends.

Senator Mushahid-ullah chaired Senate Standing Committee on Inter-Provincial Coordination on Thursday, during which PCB Chairman told during briefing that Javed Miandad was given chance four times, but he could not bring any fruitful results, while he declared Misbah better captain than Former Captain Imran Khan.

Shaharyar clarified that he was making the comparison simply on the basis of cricket and statistics and not on politics.

PCB Chairman further said that he was quite impressed by what Misbah has achieved as a captain and that his statistics and victories were testament to that.

Regarded as one of the best-ever cricketers from Pakistan, Imran led the national team to 14 Test victories in the 48 matches he played as a captain. His team lost only 8 matches and drew 26 games during his tenure as captain.

Meanwhile, Misbah, who will play his last Test on May 10, led the side in a total of 55 Test matches, winning 25, losing 18, and drawing 11 matches.

He has been at the receiving end towards the late end of his career. However, leaving the 0-2 thrashing against the Black Caps, followed by 0-3 whitewash against australia, he has been the shining star for the side.

The captain also inspired Pakistan to the top of the ICC Test team rankings for the first time in history. Although their stint at the top was short-lived as India replaced them.

Committee member Shafqaat hayat questioned Chairman PCB, saying that the bookies met players in hotel lobby, why they were not clutched.

Shaharyar Khan rplied that Nasir Jamshed was the key person, who helped bookies in contacting the players, on which Musahidullah said that bookies communication through relatives is not much old, adding that ‘Fixing Sultan’ have been involved in fixing through relatives.

Talking over recent series between Pakistan and West Indies, Shaharyar Khan told that if Babar Azam played well then Pakistan will win the match, while he said that Misbah was seeking retirement, but didn’t retire after he instructed him not to retire.
