LAHORE: Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz President Shahbaz Sharif has said that the government should show seriousness in tackling locusts threat.
The PML-N President, while expressing concern over an attack by a swarm of locusts in different parts of the country, said the federation and the provinces should follow a joint comprehensive plan of action.
Shahbaz Sharif warned about the threat of famine if effective steps are not ensured against the locusts attack and urged the government to take action on the local level.
Difficulties will further increase due to the locusts attack after coronavirus and economic crisis.
Farmers will be destroyed and national food security is at stake owing to the threat, he added
