Lahore: The Lahore High Court (LHC) has extended interim bail of Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz President Shahbaz Sharif in assets beyond means and money laundering case for just a day till September 22.
Shahbaz Sharif’s interim bail petition was heard in the LHC by a divisional bench comprising Justice Sardar Ahmed Naeem and Justice Farooq Haider which sought lawyers in tomorrow’s (Tuesday) hearing for final arguments.
Advocate Amjad Pervaiz, Azam Nazir Tarrar and advocate Nasrullah on behalf of Shahbaz Sharif presented arguments during the hearing.
Azam Nazir Tarrar said NAB has filed the reference and case has been initiated in the trial court then what are the reasons for issuing an arrest warrant.
Tarrar said, “Shahbaz Sharif remained in NAB’s custody for 42 days.” On which NAB’s lawyer said the anti-corruption body has filed 58 pages of references against the Shahbaz Sharif.
He said Shahbaz Sharif’s freedom is in danger and NAB prosecutor should provide why the arrest warrants were issued despite the fact that reference has been filed and Shahbaz Sharif is cooperating.
Tarrar further questioned why the arrest is necessary amid the interim-bail? Shahbaz Sharif said: “NAB has already completed the investigations as far as I am concerned.”
The court has adjourned the hearing till Tuesday (tomorrow).
