Web Desk (August 31, 2018): Recent news doing rounds about Bollywood actor Shahid Kapoor is that he will be portraying the character of a boxer in his next film.

According to an Indian media report, Shahid Kapoor will be seen playing the character of Indian gold-medalist boxer, Dingko Singh in his next film.

The film will be directed by Raja Krishna Menon and is scheduled to go on floors in April next year. Previously, Raja Krishna Menon has directed Akshay Kumar’s ‘Airlift’ and Saif Ali Khan starrer ‘Chef’.Talking about the film, Shahid said the thing that I loved about this story is that he is one of those who we don’t know much about. He said that Dingko not only won gold-medal at young age of 19 years, but also survived a fatal disease like cancer.

According to Kapoor, Dingko went through 13 rounds of chemotherapy. He even said that his biggest win was surviving cancer and not the gold medal he won at the age of 19 at the 1998 Asian Games in Bangkok. However, other cast of the film is not decided yet, but will be revealed soon.

Ngangom Dingko Singh, known as Dingko Singh from Manipur was the first and only Asian gold medalist boxer from India in the Bantamweight category. In 2013, he was awarded the Padma Shri.
