ISLAMABAD: Former prime minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi says he apologises to the nation for appointing the National Accountability (NAB) chairman.
In an informal talk with media outside the accountability court, Mr Abbasi said NAB has accused him of using interior ministry’s car. “I was the prime minister, if they warned me earlier then I would have hired the online taxi to reach the office,” he said.
Mr Abbasi said he has been saying since the first day that NAB has no evidence against him. “It has been one year yet they still don’t understand the case.”
“NAB’s investigation officer said that cabinet was wrong,” he said and adding that they should first decide that who is going to run the country, cabinet or NAB.
“The name of NAB chairman had come from Pakistan People’s Party and the appointment was made with consensus,” he said.
The PMLN leader said the chief aim of establishing the NAB was to divide the Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz.
