Islamabad (January 16, 2018): Former prime minister Nawaz Sharif, his daughter Maryam Nawaz and son-in-law Capt (r) Safdar reappeared in accountability court in NAB references.

During the hearing headed by Justice Mohammad Bashir, NAB Additional Director Nasir Junejo recorded his statement in Flagship reference over which Nawaz Sharif’s lawyer Khawaja Harris asked him whether he was part of the inquiry against Sharif family in 2017 which he responded with ‘yes’.
Junejo told that Shahbaz Haider provided recorded of Chaudhry Sugar Mills on August 21, 2017 while investigation officer also recorded his stance in the case on the same day.
Responding to a question about any further inquiry in the case, the witness said that no statement was recorded in front of him afterwards.
A total of 13 witnesses have recorded their statements so far in three cases against the disqualified premier.
In previous hearing of 09 January 2018, Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) officer Sidra Mansoor had recorded her statement, saying documents reveal that Nawaz’s son Hussain Nawaz was owner of 4,98,400 shares and that price of one Mehran Ramzan Textile Mills share was Rs10. These shares were gifted and donated, she added.
The former prime minister has appeared for the hearings at least 13 times, Maryam Nawaz 15 times while Capt (r) Safdar 16 times.
SC disqualified Sharif from office in July over unreported sources of annual income of about $10,000, a salary the former premier denies ever receiving. The high court also ordered the NAB to investigate and conduct a trial into the Sharif family’s wider finances, including the London properties.
Sharif maintains control of the ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) party, which elected close ally Shahid Khaqan Abbasi as prime minister after Sharif was disqualified.
