Sharing blasphemous contents on social media: ATC remands accused in FIA custody for another 4 days

ISLAMABAD: An anti-terrorism court (ATC) on Monday remanded in Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) custody the four suspects arrested for involvement in publishing blasphemous material on social media for another four days.

The accused were produced before ATC-I Judge Syed Kausar Abbas Zaidi after the 10-day remands completed. The judge inquired from the FIA as to what information it retrieved from the Fascebook account of the accused. Upon this he was told that the forensic audit of the accused Facebook account was being done and its report would be presented in the court very soon.

On the occasion, the judge inquired from the accused whether they were tortured in the custody or not?  They replied in negative.

The court directed FIA for medical check up of the accused and submit the report in the court by tomorrow.

The Agency pleaded the court to hand over the accused for another four days remand to the agency. The court accepted the plea and handed the accused in FIA custody.

The court directed FIA to produce the accused before the court on Friday next.

 

Officials said that the suspects were arrested on suspicion of sharing and spreading blasphemous content via social media.
