ISLAMABAD: The interim bail of the PPP leader and former information minister Sindh Sharjeel Memon in the corruption case of Sindh Roshan Pakistan has been extended till February 11.
The divisional bench of Islamabad High Court consists of chief justice IHC justice Athar Minallah and justice Lubna Saleem heard the case.
The lawyer of the Memon told the court that they have filed petition in court to end trial under NAB ordinance as NAB wanted to arrest Sharjeel Memon in Solar panel case, however, he had only approved the summary for chief minister and he was not the member of the committee who has approved the Roshan Sindh Program.
Chief justice IHC remarked, “NAB has not the powers to sentence any accused as it can only investigate, therefore, NAB inform the court why NAB wants to arrest him now.”
On which NAB prosecutor told the court that anti-graft watchdog wanted to recover the looted amount, in reply CJ IHC said, “under what law you have powers to arrest anybody to recover the amount, do you want to torture him after the arrest.”
