Karachi (June 15, 2017): Sindh High Court (SHC) on Thursday extended interim bail granted to accused in JJVL corruption reference till July 5, 2017.
An SHC bench headed by Chief Justice Ahmed Ali Sheikh heard bail application of co-accused of Dr Asim in JJVL corruption reference filed by National Accountability Bureau.
The CJ asked the lawyers of the accused whether the court should not hear cases against influential people by granting them bail.
He remarked that if every influential people are to be given bail in corruption cases then gates of prisons should also be opened for the poor languishing there.
The court directed the petitioner’s counsels to advance arguments on the bail applications in next date of hearing.
The court extended interim bail granted to the co-accused in the case including Iqbal Z. Ahmed, Malik Usman, Basharat Mirza and others.
